Common questions
What is a CRS score?
The Comprehensive Ranking System scores every Express Entry candidate. Points come from age, education, language, Canadian work experience, a spouse's profile, combinations of skills, and extras such as a provincial nomination. IRCC invites the highest-ranked candidates in each round.
What changed on November 3, 2026?
IRCC replaced the Canadian work experience factor with a labour market integration factor. You can now earn up to 70 extra points for 12 or more months of Canadian work in a high-wage occupation, and job offers in high-wage occupations are worth 50 to 100 points without an LMIA. The factor is capped at 150 points (140 with a spouse), and job offer points count instead of Canadian experience points, not on top of them.
Is a score of 470 enough?
It depends on the draw type. In the 12 rounds from September 14 to October 28, 2026, cut-offs ranged from 389 to 772. General and Canadian Experience Class rounds were around 518 to 519, while French-language and trade rounds were lower but only open to eligible candidates. Use the calculator to see which recent rounds your score would have cleared.
What raises a CRS score the most?
A provincial nomination adds 600 points. After that, the biggest gains usually come from higher language scores (CLB 9 or above in all four skills unlocks extra skill transferability points), French ability, more Canadian work experience, or high-wage Canadian experience. The calculator ranks these for your own profile.
Which language tests count?
For English: IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General and PTE Core. For French: TEF Canada and TCF Canada. Results are valid for two years.
